In 2004, Acadian descendants visited Grand-Pré, Nova Scotia. Our ancestors had been deported from their lands in 1755. Many of our ancestors who lived here were also buried here. Sitting near the old willows planted by our ancestors and reflecting on their lives, a cool breeze suddenly blew through the willows. At that moment we felt the spirit of our ancestors. This blog is dedicated to their memory.

Lucie, your Mom's stone is absolutely beautiful! There is a lot of nice symbolism there. I'm enjoying your new blog very much. I'll have to go visit these cemeteries in the spring.

Thank you Heather. I have lots of photos of headstones - I think I was destined to start a cemetery blog.

Yes, I think my Mother's headstone has lots of symbolism and is very meaningful.

Sincerely,

Lucie

I like your mother's stone as well. My husband has ancestors in both of these cemeteries too. Thanks for posting these.

Thank you Barbara. This was the photo I went to the cemetery to take yesterday. I could not believe I'd not done that a long time ago.
