In 2004, Acadian descendants visited Grand-Pré, Nova Scotia. Our ancestors had been deported from their lands in 1755. Many of our ancestors who lived here were also buried here. Sitting near the old willows planted by our ancestors and reflecting on their lives, a cool breeze suddenly blew through the willows. At that moment we felt the spirit of our ancestors. This blog is dedicated to their memory.

Sacret Heart Cemetery, Andover, Massachusetts - My grandparents

Grave of my grandparents who are buried at
Sacred Heart Cemetery
Andover, Massachusetts
Etienne Levesque and Arthémise Dumas
were my mother Rosanna Levesque LeBlanc's parents.

My grandparents were married at Ste Anne Church, Lawrence, Massachusetts
All of their children were baptized and married at Ste-Anne's.
My grandparent's funerals were held at Ste-Anne's - the parish has since closed.
Sacred Heart Cemetery was part of Sacred Heart Parish that has also closed.

The cemetery was established to accommodate Franco-American/
French-Canadian families who belonged to one of the following parishes:

Ste Anne (the mother church), Sacred Heart (originally a mission church
of Ste Anne), Ste Theresa (originally a mision church of Ste. Anne's
now Our Lady of Good Counsel) and Our Lady of Mount Carmel
( originally a mission church of Ste. Anne now closed).
