In 2004, Acadian descendants visited Grand-Pré, Nova Scotia. Our ancestors had been deported from their lands in 1755. Many of our ancestors who lived here were also buried here. Sitting near the old willows planted by our ancestors and reflecting on their lives, a cool breeze suddenly blew through the willows. At that moment we felt the spirit of our ancestors. This blog is dedicated to their memory.

Obituaries for Rita and Eva Legendre Murray

The above obituaries are those of two sisters who were first cousins once removed,
my mother's first cousins. As far as I can remember, Rita Legendre was sickly
most of her life and was quite frail.  Her sister Eva was married to
John Murray who predeceased her.

Rita Legendre and Eva Legendre Murray were the daughters
of Antonio Legendre and Marie Dumais.  Marie Dumais
was my grandmother's sister.

One thing I find lacking in older obituaries was that the names of the parents were
not included.  Today I find more and more obituaries contain that information
as more people have become conscious of their family history.
